In the past, the PLA has always lacked the technological edge of the Western powers. However, recent economic developments within China have allowed it to leap ahead with its own designs, effectively permitting it to skip a whole generation of equipment to produce hardware that is very close to Western standards in capability.

Click to enlarge		PLA Infantry Squad - Both versatile and numerous, the soldiers of the PLA appear as an irresistible wave of humanity, sweeping across the battlefield. This squad carries a mixture of QBB95 machine guns and PF-89 anti-tank weapons.
PLA Type 99 - A quantum leap forward for the PLA, the Type 99 has much in common with its Western counterparts. Its distinctive low profile not only distinguishes it on the battlefield, but also provides a small silhouette for enemy gunners.	Click to enlarge
Click to enlarge		PLA WZ-551 Infantry Fighting Vehicle - Able to act as both APC and IFV, the WZ-551 is a versatile vehicle, giving the PLA a great deal of flexibility. Armed with both a 25mm cannon and MG, this vehicle is capable of mowing down large numbers of infantry, even those rooted in cover, as well as light vehicles. A full infantry squad can be carried inside, in relative safety, allowing speedy deployment across the battlefield to claim objectives or provide reinforcements. After disgorging its troops, the WZ-551 can then support them with heavy firepower as they advance, using its massive hull for cover.

PLA Command Squad - The Command Squad is a strong component for any PLA force, with its officer keeping a careful eye on the battlefield, formulating tactics on the fly. His presence can mean the defeat for an enemy with a more ragged command structure, and a Command Squad as a whole acts as a useful force multiplier. PLA NORINCO FAV - The NORINCO FAV grants the PLA a fast-moving strike capability, for it can cover rough ground quickly and yet packs enough firepower to deal with both light vehicles and aircraft. The combination of both MG and 23mm cannon gives this light vehicle a strong punch that can defeat other light vehicles or root infantry out of cover as desired.		Click to enlarge
EQ2050 AA truck - Mounting the TY90 missile system this fast attack vehicle is a threat to any enemy air support. Snipers - An elite unit capable of taking out key enemy targets at long range. WZ-10 gunship - An anti-tank VTOL providing much needed air support to PLA forces. SOF squads - "Special Operations Force" troops, elite commando style forces. J-12 multirole fighter - A unit capable of bombing missions or AA dogfights Anti-Aircraft Infantry Squad - Cheaper and more manueverable in tight quarters than the EQ2050 AA truck, this unit can shoot down enemy aircraft with a vengence.
