Strategy and Tactics - Cover

Learn how to maximize cover and obscured line of sight. This will make or break your entire success.

Cover. Learn to use it or die.
If limited cover is available, put as many troops as possible in base-to-base contact to get the full +2 bonus for cover. Place any extras behind the cover to gain the benefit of obscured LOS.
If you have a good defensive position, don't leave it until you must. Make the enemy come to you until they refuse or they attempt to out range your units.
Cover. Learn to run for it or die.
When moving behind cover or obscurement move as far toward the direction of your next planned move as possible. You need only get partial cover to qualify, push just a little farther for a better move next go round.
Avoid being flanked as much as possible. Keep your back to the wall or in the inner corner of two walls if possible.
Cover. Learn to stay behind it or die.
If you have the option Take Cover behind/within terrain greater than Size 1, do so. It will help you avoid being the target of a Charge from a vehicle since most of them can ignore level 1 terrain.
Absolutely learn to use your vehicles for cover. They are mobile defensive points. Double fire with your infantry and then park your vehicle in front to block line of sight from enemy troops.
Stay out of sight until you are ready to be seen. If they can't see you, they can't kill you.
Deny your enemy cover/obscured LOS by taking elevated positions on the high ground.
