Strategy and Tactics - Deployment
- Deploy wisely. Look as much at the terrain as your enemy's deployment. Move as quickly as possible for cover rather than the enemy. Then hunker down and sit tight, letting your enemy come to you.
- If your opponent deploys spread out across the length of the board, consider a risky move of packing your forces tightly in one corner of the board when deploying. Charge forward and sweep down the board from one end to the other. This lets you mass firepower at 2 or 3 to 1 as they attempt to regroup.
- Learn to quickly analyze the weakness in your opponent's shatter point. If they go high armor, rapidly target the infantry to force them to retreat quickly. If they go high infantry take out their vehicles/anti-armor/big punch weapons first. Then pull your infantry into APCs or safe positions and mop up the remains of the enemy with your vees that are now at a much lower danger level.
- Consider your own force's speed when deploying. If you are fast, you often want to deploy first to get across the board and into prime flanking position first. If you are slow, you may want your enemy to layout their units first to be able to react appropriately.
- Consider your weapon ranges when deploying. If you have longer ranged weapons than your opponent, deploy toward your edge of the table to force them to move farther to close on you while you pummel them at range. If you have short ranged weapons such as the PLA/MEA start as far into the deployment zone as possible to be able to get in range ASAP without having to waste precious Move actions.
- If your enemy gets the first turn, deploy complete out of LOS or you will lose troops early on without reason.
- If you can't get out of LOS, deploy in cover or within buildings if possible to be better postion on your turn.
- If available, deploy on rooftops to avoid need to waste Move actions to climb (be sure it's useful though our you have to waste Moves to climb back down.)
